CBSE Re-Evaluation Portal Flooded with 16,000+ Applications on Day 1 Despite Massive Cyberattacks (Pinterest)
New Delhi: The CBSE re-evaluation portal finally opened on Tuesday. And within just 9 to 10 hours, more than 16,000 students had already submitted their applications. The board shared this update on its official X account by 3 pm.
Even as students rushed to apply, the portal came under multiple cyberattack attempts throughout the day. The most serious attack was a denial of service attempt. In just two minutes, nearly 15 lakh hits were generated on the portal. On top of that, over one lakh attempts were made to gain unauthorised access to files on the system. Despite all this, the portal kept contunue to run. Applications also continued to be processed without any major breakdown. CBSE said the platform can currently handle more than 8,000 users at the same time.
Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan had earlier said that not more than 20 percent of eligible students were expected to apply for re-evaluation. Based on that, the total number was estimated to stay around 80,000. But those numbers are already looking shaky because 1,6000 aplications already submitted within the first 9-10 hours of the portal opening and more than three days still left in the window, the final count could go well beyond what the minister had predicted.
